UNIQUE CREATURES IN THE WORLD

The Earth is full of life itself. Animals and plants have lived here from years. Everyone plays an important role to balance the environment. Although there are many creatures exist on Earth, we know very few things about them. Earth has been the witness to the evolution of animals from the JURASSIC age. Some of the animals live in a specific region, specific climate and unreachable places. These are some of the causes that we still don’t know about many species of animals on Earth. Today we will discuss about some unique animals living in unique regions in the world.

10. PANGOLIN :

PANGOLIN

Pangolins are one type of anteater and an endangered species in Asia and Africa. They are also known as scaly anteater. These unique creatures are covered in hard, triangle shaped scales from top to bottom. They have a tail behind their body as long as their body length. They eat all kind of insects by their long tongue. All four legs have sharp nails for digging into soil to find food. Pangolins can roll their full body like a ball to protection. They are in 10th position on the list.

9. SLOTH:

SLOTH

Sloths are the slowest animal on Earth. They are actually related to herbivorous but also eat insects in season. Their long arms and rough fur relate them to Monkey or Chimpanzee.They are twice as fast in water than land.They spend most of their life-time on tree branches. Tropical Rain forest of America help them to feed various leaves. They are in 9th position on this list.


8. OKAPI:

OKAPI

Okapis are very unique creature in animal kingdom. They look like mix breed of Giraffe and Zebra. They are the last remaining ancestors of the Giraffe but not as tall as them. Okapis are very rare animal and it only found in central Africa. They have horizontally Zebra straps on their backside and four legs. They are in 8th position on this list.

7. ALPACA:

ALPACAS

Alpacas look like Llama or small Camel, provided they don’t have any hump. They belong to the Camelid familyAlpacas look exactly as Llama, but their weight and ears differentiate them from Llama. Whole body of alpaca is covered by fleece. Alpaca’s fiber is soft, durable, luxurious and silky than the other natural fibers. They are raised on farms for their valuable fiber all over the world. As a nature of herbivorous they only eat grasses and vegetables. They are in 7th position on this list.

6.  ARMADILLO:

ARMADILLO

Armadillo is a small hairy mammal creature. They live in tropical rainforest of Central and South America. Armadillo can roll up into a ball for protection. They have a flexible protector shell, which is actually modified hard skin. Armadillo eats insects, their sharp claws help them to dig and find food. They are in 6th position on this list.

5. MOUSE DEER:

MOUSE DEER

Mouse Deer is also known as Chevrotain. This tiny creature is not a mouse or a deer. They don’t have long legs or horns like deer and not have a long tail like mouse. Mouse Deer are found in Philippine’s forest. They are omnivorous. They eat variety of plants and animals, including ants and other insects, seeds, fruits, flowers, nuts etc. They are in 5th position on this list.

4. GERENUK :

GERENUK

Gerenuks are also known as Giraffe gazelle. They almost look like deer except their long tail and long neck. They live in east Africa’s dry savanna.  Gerenuks are able to survive for long period without a drop of water. They are herbivorous and eat various cactus and herbs. Male Gerenuks are identified by their sharp horns. They are in 4th position on this list.

3. BONGO: 

BONGO

Bongos are natively found lowland forests of Eastern and Central Africa. They are brown in color with 10 to 15 white straps on their back. Their legs are also banded with the white straps. These herbivorous eat all kind of plants and grasses. They are very shy and secretive in nature. There are a few Bongos left on Earth. They are in 3rd position on this list.

 2. MANATEE:

MANATEE WITH HER BABY

Manatees are fully aquatic mammal, found in tropical and subtropical areas. These herbivorous mainly eat marine plants and algae. They have two pectoral fins and one large caudal fin to swim in water. Manatees are also known as Sea Cow. They grow around 12 feet long and love to swim in coastal warm water. They are in 2nd position on this list.

STAR NOSED MOLE

Star-Nosed Mole is a very poor looking creature. These creatures are found in very few areas in North America. They are easily identified by their star like nose. Their nose is surrounded by hair and they can smell underwater with this unique nose. Sharp claws help them to find food. Star-Nosed Mole are insectivorous, eat Earthworms and other insects. They are in 1st position on this list.
